The purpose of this template was to play around with table styling. Tables are still good for some things, such as holding tabular data. I don't recommend them for anything else though as even most well layed out and tabbed table code can be daunting to sift through.
And it is also this reason that most designers have opted away from tables completely and are replacing them with css spans. I'm still unsure how I feel about tables at the moment as I have never come across a situation to warrant them, but I guess it is good to play around with the styling in case a situation does arise where I will be using them.
